Cleveland, Ohio-based First Brands Group, a portfolio company of aftermarket automotive parts suppliers, has announced the closure of its Eagle Machining subsidiary in Fayette, Ohio, which manufactures precision metal parts.
The closure will impact 251 employees, beginning February 27, 2026
According to a company statement filed with the State of Ohio, "For several weeks now, the Facility has been operating at significantly reduced production. During that time, the Company has been evaluating its footprint and go-forward business strategy. As part of such evaluation, the Company has determined that the Facility has been underperforming for the past year, causing a strain on the Company’s liquidity and
increasing the Company’s capital needs. Even with additional capital, the Facility's cost structure does not support keeping it in operation. As a result, the Company has made the difficult decision to permanently close the Facility."
Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
