AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT THE NATIONAL LABORATORY OF THE ROCKIES

Golden, Colorado-based The National Laboratory of the Rockies, the U.S. Department of Energy's primary laboratory for energy research, has announced a reduction-in-force.

The reduction will affect 134 employees and comes after layoffs of 114 employees in May 2025 due to federal funding cuts.

According to a spokesperson, “These actions were taken to adjust to existing and projected funding levels and alignment with DOE priorities. We recognize the meaningful contributions of those impacted and the role they have played in advancing the laboratory’s work.”

It is believed that the cuts were triggered by the Administration's openly stated reversal of support for renewable energy in favor of bolstering traditional fossil fuel industries, such as coal-fired power plants and oil and gas drilling.

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
