Hazelwood, Missouri-based Community Wholesale Tire, one of the largest family-owned and operated tire distributors in the Midwest, has announced it will permanently close its two Hazelwood facilities, including its headquarters.
The closure will impact 143 employees, with layoffs scheduled for April 10, 2026.
While the company will close two facilities, it plans to remain a family operation and will continue operating its distribution facilities in Kansas City, Missouri; Springfield, Missouri; Peoria, Illinois; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
According to published reports, "In connection with the shutdown, U.S. AutoForce LLC is set to acquire Community Wholesale Tire’s wholesale distribution assets in a transaction expected to close around April 2026. This suggests a strategic business reorganization rather than a full company liquidation."
Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
