Cypress, California-based Yamaha Motor Corporation, a major Japanese manufacturer specializing in motorcycles, marine outboard motors, ATVs, electric motors, and industrial robots, has announced the relocation of their headquarters to Kennesaw, Georgia, with the transition to be completed in phases through 2028.
The move will impact about 250 workers.
According to a company statement, "Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. is undertaking structural reforms aimed at improving the profitability of its U.S. operations in response to cost increases resulting from U.S. tariffs and changes in the market environment. In addition to implementing cross-business cost reduction initiatives, the Company seeks over the medium to long term to build a profit structure that is not solely dependent on top-line growth, thereby transforming itself into a more resilient and robust organization capable of adapting to change."
Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
