AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT STONE MOUNTAIN PARK

Stone Mountain, Georgia-based Stone Mountain Park, a 3,200-acre destination/attraction park near Atlanta, Georgia, featuring the world's largest exposed piece of granite, has announced the layoff of all employees as of June 1, 2026, due to a change in Park management.

The shift in management will impact 497 employees. Many of whom are likely to be hired by the park's new operator.

Stone Mountain Park is owned by the State of Georgia and managed by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association (SMMA). As of June 1, 2026, a subsidiary of Aramark Destinations is taking over as the private operator responsible for daily operations, attractions, and lodging, replacing the park's current manager, Thrive SMP.

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
