AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT BAE SYSTEMS

London, England, UK-based BAE Systems, a multinational aerospace, shipbuilding, arms, and defense contractor, has commenced layoffs at its Maritime Solutions facility in Jacksonville, Florida.

The reduction in force will impact almost 25% of the workforce, or approximately 200 employees, more if temporary employees and contractors are not included in the number.

According to a company spokesperson, “We made the difficult decision to right-size the Jacksonville workforce to efficiently execute the workload expected through the end of the year. As the workforce reduction unfolds, we will maintain the appropriate level of skills and capabilities to deliver high-quality ship maintenance services to the U.S. Navy and our customers. Less than 200 employees will be impacted effective this month.”

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
