Bend, Oregon-based Les Schwab Tires, an automotive retailer specializing in tires and accessories, has announced a restructuring and reduction in force.
The restructuring will affect 70 employees in the company's Bend headquarters.
According to a spokesperson, "The layoffs were a difficult decision, and the restructuring is not a reaction to short-term business challenges. Saying goodbye to coworkers who have contributed to the company is never easy, and we recognize the impact this has on employees and their families. Employees leaving the company as part of these changes are being provided transition support, including severance and extended benefits. As Les Schwab Tires has expanded to more than 600 locations and 9,000 employees, we continue to evaluate how work is organized and where targeted investment is needed. The restructuring will ensure the company remains positioned to support stores and customers while continuing to invest in capabilities needed for the future."
Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
