Sunnyvale, California-based Synopsys, a supplier of tools and services to the semiconductor design and manufacturing industry, is continuing its pre-planned, multi-year restructuring after acquiring Canonsburg, Pennsylvania-based Ansys.
The reduction in force will impact 128 jobs from its Sunnyvale campus on December 16, 2026, primarily in engineering and research and development teams.
A company spokesperson reiterated a previous statement, “We are taking a number of targeted steps to improve our efficiency to scale the business, accelerate our strategy, and capitalize on the highest-growth opportunities. These initiatives will reduce our global workforce over the course of fiscal year 2026. We do not take these measures lightly and are committed to treating impacted employees with respect and providing support through the transition.”
Change is constant, and it is coming. Tomorrow will always come, no matter how much you try to ignore it. Life offers no guarantees, and no promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you wondering, "Am I next"?
