San Diego, California-based Sharp HealthCare, a not-for-profit regional health care group operating four acute care hospitals, three specialty hospitals, and three affiliated medical groups, has announced another reorganization.
The restructuring will impact 260 employees, including professional (registered nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, imaging technicians, and case management) and support staff (transportation, credentialing, patient intake and services, and other administrative and business operations roles).
CEO Chris Howard noted, “It is clear that Sharp, like other health systems nationwide, is facing the impact of these regulatory challenges. In response, we’ve had to continue assessing how we work, how we’re structured, and what it will take to uphold our mission to improve the health of those we serve, with a commitment to excellence in all that we do. Providers like Sharp must be prepared to continue providing vital services to those communities and to address the financial challenges that accompany providing that care. We pride ourselves on being the largest private employer in San Diego County, but all while doing this in a way that preserves the Sharp experience and preserves the financial integrity of the organization.”
