The shift in management will impact 497 employees. Many of whom are likely to be hired by the park's new operator.

Stone Mountain Park is owned by the State of Georgia and managed by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association (SMMA). Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SAFARI WEST

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SIX FLAGS ENTERTAINMENT

Charlotte, North Carolina-based Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, an owner/operator of amusement parks, water parks, and resorts, has announced an operational restructuring, including a reduction in force of 10% in the near future as part of a post-merger of Six Flags and Cedar Fair.

The restructuring will impact 135 jobs, including the presidents, at Knott’s, Magic Mountain, and other California parks

Additionally, the company is planning to close its Six Flags America theme park and Hurricane Harbor water park in Bowie, Maryland, after the 2025 operating season.

A company spokesperson noted, “As part of our comprehensive review of our park portfolio, we have determined that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor are not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan. After reviewing a number of options, we believe that marketing the property for redevelopment will generate the highest value and return on investment. We anticipate strong interest in the property and will continue to strategically pursue portfolio optimization opportunities as we work to unlock the full value of our portfolio.”

“This was a difficult decision, and we recognize the impact it will have on our Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor park associates and guests. We are grateful to our park associates who work hard to create lifelong memories for our guests, and Six Flags is committed to supporting all impacted associates through the closure process at the end of this year. Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor have been an important part of the local community, and this final season will be an opportunity to celebrate the decades of fun that guests have enjoyed at the property.”
