AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT INTUITIVE SURGICAL

Sunnyvale, California-based Intuitive Surgical, a biotechnology company that develops, manufactures, and markets surgical robotic medical devices, including the iconic da Vinci Surgical System, has announced a restructuring of its Ion product and accessories line and production operations.

The restructuring will impact 331 employees, including 212 assembly technicians, 26 manufacturing leaders, 22 trainers, and 22 material handlers, located at its Sunnyvale headquarters. Layoffs are expected to occur by October 2025.

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT SMITH+NEPHEW

Andover, Massachusetts-based Smith+Nephew, a portfolio medical technology company focused on the repair, regeneration and replacement of soft and hard tissue, has announced a restructuring initiative,

The restructuring will impact 150 employees located in Memphis, Tennessee, where knee and hip joint replacements, plating systems, and trauma products are produced.

According to the company, "Smith+Nephew is working to transform to a more efficient, effective and agile business. As we make improvements to our business efficiency in Memphis we have identified some activities that are no longer required to be delivered as they are today. Unfortunately, this has meant that we are making around 150 roles redundant, and most will transition by year-end. The impacted colleagues are being treated with dignity and respect, in line with our values.”
