AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT CLEVELAND CLINIC

Cleveland, Ohio-based Cleveland Clinic, an integrated nonprofit academic medical center, has announced a reduction in force.

The personnel realignment will impact 114 administrative employees.

According to a company spokesperson, "We made the difficult decision to reduce the number of administrative management positions across our organization. Due to the financial challenges facing the healthcare industry, we have restructured areas within the organization to better align with today's healthcare environment's needs and drive operational efficiencies. This change impacts 114 caregivers across the organization. This reduction is not specific to one department, rather administrative manager positions in various nonclinical areas."

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life or promises for a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT PRIDE INDUSTRIES

Roseville, California-based PRIDE Industries, a social enterprise that creates employment for people with disabilities by providing competitive business services to commercial, industrial, and government clients, has announced a reduction in force involving disabled prison contractors working at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, California.

Approximately 62 employees working in the California prison system will be laid off due to a union dispute forcing the state prison to no longer employ PRIDE workers in what are typically civil service positions. The corrupt Service Employees International Union Local 1000, which wields significant power in the State, is behind the grievance.

According to a union spokesperson, “We challenged the outsourcing of custodial services at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville because it violated civil service protections enshrined in the California State Constitution, which safeguard stable employment and fair treatment for public workers.”

Instead of making accommodations and taking meaningful steps to integrate these workers into state service, the state is allowing the contract to run its course, which is set to expire at the end of February 2025.

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT AIR WISCONSIN AIRLINES

Greenville, Wisconsin-based Air Wisconsin Airlines, a regional airline subcarrier, announced a major reduction in force.

The reduction will impact 513 jobs including 219 salaried and management employees and 294 temporary employees. Layoffs are expected to commence on March 31, 2025, and affect positions at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport and Appleton International Airport.

The decision was driven by a contractual matter that will end the company's partnership with American Airlines in April 2025.

According to Robert Binns, President and CEO, "This strategic shift underscores our adaptability and commitment to delivering reliable, customized air travel solutions where they are most needed. As we diversify into EAS [Essential Air Service] and grow our charter operations, we remain committed to delivering safe, efficient, and quality service to every community and customer we serve."
