AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT OCEANFIRST BANK

Toms River, New Jersey-based OceanFirst Bank, a full-service regional bank, has announced a reduction in force related to its planned exit from its residential loan origination business and partner with Embrace Home Loans for mortgage services.

The personnel adjustment will impact 114 employees, effective December 18, 2025.

According to a company statement, “Residential lending has become dominated in recent years by large-scale wholesale mortgage companies and financial technology firms, prompting many banks to re-evaluate their mortgage business models. By transitioning our residential loan origination business model to this strategic partnership, OceanFirst will continue our focus on growing the commercial bank with significant investments to drive growth and profitability.”

Change is coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT BLUE RIDGE POWER

Asheville, North Carolina-based Blue Ridge Power, a full-service engineering, procurement, and construction firm specializing in solar and energy storage projects, has announced a major reduction in force as it winds down its business.

The closure will impact 517 employees, 169 employees in Asheville and 348 employees in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

It is believed that the decision may have been driven by the Administration's One Big Beautiful Bill Act that ended subsidies for solar and wind energy projects years earlier than planned.

According to a spokesperson, “Blue Ridge Power has experienced market headwinds similar to those impacting the entire renewable energy industry, requiring Pine Gate Renewables to dedicate significant resources to support the organization. After reviewing numerous options to find a path forward, Pine Gate made the difficult decision to conduct an orderly wind-down of Blue Ridge Power. Blue Ridge Power will continue to assess how best to support each of its ongoing projects, including working with its customers to transition those projects to another EPC provider. This decision in no way reflects the hard work or dedication of our valued team members, and we are deeply grateful for all of their contributions.”

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT NWFM

Yakima, Washington-based NWFM, a consulting and management company providing assistance to growers, investors, land owners and commercial food producers, has announced a reduction in force.

The reduction will impact 283 employees at various locations in Washington State. Separations are scheduled for November 15, 2025.

Little is known about the layoffs, and the company has declined to answer questions. This might be because Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading class action law firm, is investigating NWFM, LLC regarding its recent potential mass layoff in Yakima, Washington.
