AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT UNITYPOINT HEALTH

West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health, a not-for-profit regional health system, has announced a restructuring of its information technology and revenue department as it prepares to outsource its IT technology functions to Dublin, Ireland-based Accenture, a multinational technology consultancy and a provider of outsourced business process operations, and revenue cycle operations to Boca Raton, Florida-based Omega Healthcare.

The outsourcing operation will affect 207 Information Technology positions and an unspecified number of revenue cycle roles, with terminations scheduled on July 24, 2026.

According to a spokesperson, "Our focus is on transitioning select functions to a third-party vendor to help UnityPoint Health leverage advanced technologies, reduce costs, and improve the overall user experience, while maintaining local leadership oversight, governance, and accountability for these functions. Expanding clinical services and patient access points remain a top priority as the system realigns its IT and revenue cycle services to better match current and future needs."

President and CEO Scott Kizer noted, “Like many health systems across the country, we are navigating a period of sustained financial pressure that requires us to make difficult but necessary decisions. Our focus is to ensure we remain strong for the future — so we can continue delivering expert, high-quality care and expand local access for the patients and communities who depend on us. Each organization is responding to those pressures in ways that best support its long-term sustainability and its commitment to the people and communities it serves. For UnityPoint Health, these targeted changes are about ensuring we can continue providing high-quality, local care and remain strong for the future.”

Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?

AM I NEXT? NO LOVE AT RESRG AUTOMOTIVE

Troy, Michigan-based RESRG Automotive, a Tier 1 automotive parts supplier specializing in polymer molding, plating, painting, and finishing for exterior and interior vehicle systems, has announced the closure of its Evansville, Indiana, electroplating facility by December 31, 2026.

The closure will impact 266 employees, including 212 hourly and 54 salaried workers, in five phases, starting in June 2026 and continuing through December 2026.

It is believed that the decision was driven by declining demand for chrome-plated plastic components and by post-merger consolidation following Connecticut-based Atlas Holdings' acquisition of SRG Global and REHAU Automotive.

The company is also discontinuing operations at its Farmington, Missouri, electroplating facility.

A company spokesperson noted, “The difficult decision is not a reflection of the hard work and commitment of RESRG employees.”
