NO LOVE AT KAISER PERMANENTE HEATHCARE

Oakland, California-based Kaiser Permanente, an integrated provider of managed healthcare services, has announced a reduction in its California workforce.

The reduction will affect 147 employees on November 20, 2026, including layoffs at 16 Kaiser locations in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, and Alameda counties. (72 people will be at the provider’s San Diego administrative offices, followed by 22 positions in Pleasanton, 20 in Pasadena, and 11 in Oakland; the others are spread throughout the state.)

According to a company statement, “Kaiser Permanente continually evaluates how we organize our work and deploy resources to help ensure high-quality care remains affordable and accessible for our members and patients."

“We recently notified 147 employees in a number of business and administrative functions that their positions will be eliminated. These positions do not provide direct patient care. We are supporting affected employees as they explore other opportunities within Kaiser Permanente and, where appropriate, providing severance, career support and outplacement services. These changes will not affect the quality of care or service we provide to our members and patients.”

Change is constant, and it's coming. Tomorrow will always come, no matter how much you try to ignore it. Life offers no guarantees, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you wondering, "Am I Next?"
