Pleasanton, California-based Workday, an on-demand financial management, human capital management, and Student information system software vendor, has announced the second round of layoffs as it pursues organizational restructuring, real estate footprint downsizing, and a 2.5% reduction in the global workforce, an estimated 500 employees.
The personnel adjustment will impact 142 employees at its Pleasanton headquarters, primarily in the product and technology teams. Employee reductions should largely be complete by the first quarter of fiscal 2028, while the office-space reductions will near completion by the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.
According to a company spokesperson, "We made some changes to better align people to our highest business priorities and enable our teams to move even faster by removing layers."
Change is constant, and it's coming. Tomorrow will always come, no matter how much you try to ignore it. Life offers no guarantees, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you wondering, "Am I Next?"
