Huntsville, Alabama-based Aetos Systems, a technology and engineering services contractor that primarily serves U.S. federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, has announced it may lose a subcontract as NASA continues to insource formerly external job functions.
The potential contract loss will impact 126 employees, including communication system engineers, electronic technicians, and field systems specialists, located at the Kennedy Space Center.
A company statement filed with the State of Florida reads, "This notice is to inform you pursuant to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act that portions of Aetos Systems’s work as a subcontractor to Leidos on the Advanced
Enterprise Global Information Systems (“AEGIS) contract, located at NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space Center, Brevard County, Florida, will be
removed from the AEGIS Contract and “in-sourced” to NASA’s civil servant workforce, which is
anticipated to occur between December 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026, and may result in the
termination by Aetos of up to 126 employees at this location."
Change is constant, and it's coming. Tomorrow will always come, no matter how much you try to ignore it. Life offers no guarantees, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume it’s targeted at someone else? Are you wondering, "Am I Next?"
