Charleston, South Carolina-based Technica, a provider of support solutions to the defense industry, announced a reduction in force as a Defense Logistics Agency contract task order ends on September 30, 2026.
If the distribution support labor and services contract is not extended, the contract's expiration will affect 100 employees at the Susquehanna Eastern Distribution Center, a global storage and materials distribution center in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania.
According to a DLA spokesperson, "Defense Logistics Agency Distribution cannot comment on the internal workforce management or staffing practices of our private service providers. As always, DLA Distribution remains committed to fiscal transparency and serving as a responsible steward of taxpayer resources, keeping a continuous focus on optimizing and balancing capabilities to fulfill our mission to increase warfighter readiness.β
Change is constant, and it's coming. There will always be a tomorrow, no matter how much you may try to ignore it. There are no guarantees in life, nor promises of a bright future. We see good people being laid off through no fault of their own. Just because something terrible hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. It can happen to anyone, at any time, anywhere. No one is guaranteed to wake up tomorrow and still have a job by evening. While many employees can read the writing on the wall, why do most assume itβs targeted at someone else? Are you now wondering, Am I Next?
