Salt Lake City, Utah-based University of Utah, a public research university, has announced plans for a large-scale reduction in force over the coming year.
It is estimated that the reduction in force will impact between 5% to 15% of employees, estimated to fall somewhere between 285 to 855 employees, over the next year. Positions will target the Office of Advancement, and include roles in human resources, finance, information technology, marketing, communications, and administrative support.
According to University President Taylor Randall, “The University of Utah has never become stronger by standing still. One of the most important responsibilities of being a leader is stewardship. We inherited a remarkable university that was shaped by those who came before, and we have an obligation to leave it stronger for those who follow. Modernizing administrative and business operations is intended to free up resources for more investment in the university’s core missions of education, research and patient care."
